Virtual Coaching Groups

Virtual coaching groups are an opportunity for parents to benefit from professional guidance and support through a series of webinars and online engagement. Parents can also access peer support through voluntary engagement in a private Facebook page, created exclusively for the group and accessed by invite only. At the moment, we have the following virtual coaching groups available:

  • Understanding Behaviour – An 8-week series to help parents learn practical, proven strategies to reduce behavioral difficulties
  • Building Social Communication and Play – A 6-week programme for parents of children aged 18 months to 5 years, to help establish social engagement and expand language, communication, imitation and play skills.

How does it work?

All of our groups are facilitated by one of our Board Certified Behaviour Analysts. Each week, you will receive an invitation to join a live Zoom session with the group facilitator. Those attending live will have the opportunity to ask questions. But don’t worry if you can’t attend. You’ll still have the opportunity to view the recording at your convenience on the private Facebook page. We will also be uploading resources and activities to assist you in relating concepts and practicing strategies at home.

We will be conducting a live Q & A sessions on the private Facebook page between weekly webinars. Anyone unable to attend and ask questions live can view the recorded session and submit questions for the Q & A. Again, this Q & A session will be recorded and reviewed at your convenience.

Recorded webinars, Q & A sessions, resources, and discussion threads can be accessed anytime on this private Facebook page. This flexibility allows both parents to engage and gain maximum benefit.

Can I access support and advice individually and confidentially?

We know that some questions may be of a sensitive nature. You are very welcome to email the group facilitator privately with any questions or concerns. As a group member, you also have the option of accessing remote, individualized consultation at a reduced hourly rate. This reduced remains available to you for up to 3 months after completion of the group. This is a great option for families needing extra assistance in understanding how to apply strategies to their unique situation.

If you would like to find out when our next virtual coaching group begins, visit our events page, or contact us.

Get in touch with us, we’d love to help!

We want to hear from you!

Send us a message, or give us a call.

One of us will get back to you to talk about how we can help.

There are many mixed emotions around the return to school for our children. Some of us are excited, some of us are worried and many of us are overwhelmed.

There are so many things out of our control, no matter how hard we try, we cannot control them. So what can we do?...

Here are some simple achievable steps we can put in place to make the coming days and weeks easier on the whole family.

1. Practice self-care: Choose one thing you can do for yourself each day. It can be as big or small as you wish, but make it achievable e.g. each morning, write 3 things you are grateful for; spend 5 minutes alone with a hot cup of tea of coffee; go for a walk outside (even if you just walk around your house once!)

2. Build structure and routine into the day: If you're anything like us, those waking and bedtime routines in place during school periods have really drifted. Try not to wait until a day or two before to re-establish those routines. Give everyone a chance to ease back into those bedtimes or school time routines.

3. Ask for help: People may not be able to call and visit or take the children for an hour, but even a chat with a family member, or parent in a similar situation. And there are so many parent support pages or professionals to connect with online.

4. Celebrate the small wins: Make sure and take a moment to celebrate the small wins every day. This could be as simple as your child trying a new food, or bedtime taking 5 minutes less time than usual.

5. Make time to connect with your child: Spend at least 5 minutes with your child playing and having fun with just one goal in mind, laughter!

Great perspective in this quote. 💪

So we still have several weeks of restrictions ahead, and it's all grown quite tiresome. For some, things may be looking up a bit with children returning to school. Others may be very apprehensive about the return.

If you're struggling still with some of the questions remaining about the return to school, services resuming, or any of the many other stressors in life these days, that's OK. You're certainly not alone, but also remember YOUR track record for getting through these days.
