Assessments

At Reach Children’s Services, we celebrate diversity. Our supports are tailored to honour the unique strengths, perspectives, and needs of each child and their family. Our comprehensive assessment services are designed to help you better understand your child’s unique profile, empowering you with insights and guidance for their growth and well-being.

Our team offers in-depth, collaborative assessments for a variety of neurodevelopmental and learning differences.

Assessment Descriptions & Prices

A cognitive or developmental assessment helps us understand how a child thinks, learns, solves problems and approaches new challenges. It can be helpful when there are concerns about a child’s overall development or learning, or when we want to explore whether they may have a general learning difficulty. The assessment provides a picture of a child’s cognitive strengths and areas of difficulty, helping parents and schools better understand how they learn and what support may be most helpful.

Our psychoeducational assessments are tailored to each child and can identify Specific Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia, while also building a broader understanding of their learning profile. Where appropriate, the assessment includes the additional social, emotional, behavioural and attentional screening needed to understand factors that may be affecting learning. These are all included within the assessment fee, so families are not faced with unexpected additional charges when further screening is needed to understand their child’s needs.

Our ADHD assessments are comprehensive and tailored to each child, incorporating a psychoeducational assessment to explore their learning profile and identify any Specific Learning Difficulties that may be contributing to or overlapping with their presenting challenges. This helps us consider the whole child and understand the factors that may be affecting their learning, attention and day-to-day functioning.

If your child has already completed a psychoeducational assessment, please get in touch with us before booking. We can review what has already been completed and advise what additional assessment is needed, which may reduce the overall cost.

ADHD assessments at Reach Children’s Services are completed by a Psychologist. They do not include a psychiatric assessment or prescription of medication.

Our multidisciplinary autism assessments are led by a PSI Chartered Educational and Behavioural Psychologist, with input from CORU-registered Occupational and Speech and Language Therapists. Together, we provide a holistic, neuroaffirming assessment that considers each child’s social communication, interaction, sensory experiences and individual way of experiencing the world, while recognising their strengths and support needs. Our assessments are aligned with current HSE requirements.

This comprehensive assessment combines our multidisciplinary autism assessment with a full Psychoeducational Assessment. In addition to exploring autism, it provides a detailed understanding of a child’s cognitive and learning profile, including consideration of Specific Learning Difficulties and factors that may be affecting their learning.

Our comprehensive Neurodevelopmental Assessment brings together assessment of autism, ADHD and a child’s cognitive and learning profile, including Specific Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. It is tailored to each child and considers the ways in which differences in attention, communication, learning, sensory processing and emotional or behavioural regulation may interact and affect their everyday experiences.

Not Sure if it’s the right time for assessment?

In some instances, it may be helpful to begin with an initial consultation in our confidential and supportive environment, where we can discuss your child’s strengths, challenges, and specific needs. From there, we may recommend individual therapy sessions, early intervention supports, further functional behavioural assessment, neurodevelopmental assessment for Autism/ADHD, or cognitive assessment. Initial consultations can be particularly helpful for families who are struggling to decide whether it’s the right time for assessment, or what kind of assessment might be most helpful.

✨ A little later than planned, but we’re delighted to finally be here! ✨

We’re so pleased to share a first look at our new space in Moynalty, our second Reach Children’s Services location.

Although we had hoped to open earlier in the summer, creating a new space takes a little longer than expected! There are still a few finishing touches to come, but we were delighted to welcome our first family for assessment in Moynalty this week. 💛

It’s been exciting to see the space start to come together, and we’re looking forward to making it a warm, welcoming environment for the children, young people and families we work with.

More pictures to come as we add the finishing touches! 🌿
